Hotel Figueroa

For my first ghost hunting episode, I explore a historic hotel in Los Angeles tied to two murders and a connection to the Black Dahlia. Hotel Figueroa started as an exclusive hotel for Women in downtown Los Angeles.

After doing some research behind Hotel Figueroa, I found these stories.

Elizabeth Short “The Black Dahlia” may have stayed here when she arrived to Los Angeles in 1946. It is suspected that she visited the hotel before she was murdered.

Hallie Cecilia Oswald was murdered in one of the rooms by Harry Gordon in 1950. She was found naked with multiple messages written on her body. The message across her chest was “I had to do it. It’s for the best” and on her back it said “You have.” There were other messages on her body but the Police couldn’t identify what they were.

Virginia Patty was murdered in an apartment and was hanged by a clothes hanger in the closet in 1929. The murderer, William Tallman, stayed at the hotel before meeting and murdering Virginia. He was never found.
